Governor Evans Kidero has asked residents and Nairobi visitors to follow the city by-laws.

Dr Kidero said the by-laws should be respected because most of them are intended to keep the city clean, healthy and safe for everyone.

"As a county government we are not happy when people get arrested for stepping on the grass in our ongoing city beautification project. The issue of trespass is in our city by-laws, all we want is people to avoid stepping on 'my grass'. We want  to keep our city clean and have order," he said.

Speaking in Nairobi during a church service to celebrate 10 years since Mamlaka Hill Chapel on Sunday, Kidero noted that the large city population poses a big challenge to garbage disposal and asked residents not to litter the streets. The ceremony was held at the Nairobi Primary School grounds.

"We have over four million people in Nairobi and each one of them produces about a half a kilo of garbage daily. Residents and other people visiting Nairobi should that they correctly dispose their litter or they face the law," said Kidero.

The Governor made the remarks at Mamlaka Hill Chapel, during a church service meant to celebrate 10 years since the church was started.
