Martin Wambora will not be reinstated yet

Embu, Kenya: A three-judge bench has ruled that embattled Embu Governor Martin Wambora will not be reinstated pending the determination of suit against his impeachment.

Deputy Governor Dorothy Nditi will however not be sworn in as governor. Nditi will continue holding the seat just as Deputy Governor.

Justices Hedwig Ong'undi, Cecilia Githua and Boaz Olao said swearing in Nditi would disadvantage Wambora incase he won the main suit.

They also took note that the County Assembly and the Senate proceeded with impeachment despite the existence of court orders.

The judges observed that there would be no vacuum in Embu County since Nditi is expected to act as per Section 175 (9) of the constitution in the absence of the governor.
