Jose Mourinho: Wayne Rooney could be happy at Chelsea

JOSE MOURINHO has dropped a heavy hint that Chelsea will welcome Wayne Rooney to Stamford Bridge if his love affair with Manchester United ends.

Mourinho’s first target after taking over as the new Chelsea manager is a top-quality striker, with Edinson Cavani, Robert Lewandowski and Hulk the big-money targets.

But Chelsea have been keeping a close eye on Rooney’s situation at Old Trafford, where the England forward appeared increasingly unsettled at the end of last season after being left out of the team by Sir Alex Ferguson.

Rooney, 27, has yet to have talks on his future with new United manager David Moyes, and last night Mourinho said: “Rooney is at a fantastic age. He has maturity, big experience, and he’s still young.
