Uhuru to attend EAC Heads of State summit

Kenya: President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected in Arusha, Tanzania on Saturday afternoon for the 11th Extraordinary Summit of East African Community (EAC) Heads of State and Government.

During the summit, the Heads of State will deliberate on the appointment of a new EAC Deputy Secretary-General from Kenya.

Also on the agenda is the appointment of new judges of the East African Court of Justice from the Republic of Burundi and the Republic of Rwanda.

The meeting will further take a look at the progress report of the council of ministers on negotiations for the establishment of the East African Monetary Union.

The report on the proposal by the Bureau of Speakers to upgrade the bureau into an organ of the East African Community will also be tabled.
