Equity Bank treated this year’s winners of the Kenya Schools and Colleges Drama Festivals to a spectacular event in Nairobi.

Speaking during the winners’ concert award, Equity Group Foundation director Michael Wachira said they were greatly encouraged by the quality and variety in the interpretation of the Wings to Fly theme during the just concluded national festival.

"We are confident that the impact that has been created by the dramatisation of this theme in the schools drama festival at all levels will assist in raising more awareness on the plight of marginalised children.

Prof Wachira reiterated that the performances with the theme would win the hearts of more corporate organisations and Kenyans to support the Kenyan child. He added: "The creativity from the directors and choreographers was extremely impressive. we at Equity Bank believe the best way to empower the next generation is to support them in accessing adequate education," said Wachira.

He reaffirmed the bank’s commitment as a responsible corporate citizen, to continuing in the spirit of giving back to people through corporate social responsibility programmes, which have the capacity to transform the lives and livelihoods of our people. This, he said, they would do in appreciation of the fact that it is the goodwill of Kenyans that has made Equity Bank a leader not only in Kenya but also in the region.

He thanked the Education Minister, Kenya National Drama Festival Chairman Kahura Chokera and the organising committee for the warmth and the cordial relationship as partners in the festival.
