Defending champions Butali Sugar Warriors stretched their unbeaten run to eight matches after their 2-1 win over Sailors on Sunday in a Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) Men’s Premier League match played at the City Park Stadium in Nairobi.

Second half goals from Festus Onyango and Francis Kariuki was enough to hand the sugar men their sixth victory of the 2022 season with maximum points moving them back top of the table.

Johnstone Indiazi scored the consolation goal for Sailors.

Victory saw Warriors leapfrog their local rivals Kenya Police to top the log with 20 points after eight round of matches played.

Police who were not in action over the weekend are now second position with 19 points from eight matches.

Sailors dropped to fifth after the defeat, their second of the campaign. They have 11 points.

Strathmore University Gladiators moved to third in the standings with 13 points after bouncing back to winning ways with a deserved 4-1 win over last year’s runners up Wazalendo.
