Gor Mahia Chairman Ambrose Rachier has questioned the motive behind the fine imposed on the club by the Football Kenya Federation.
Gor and Sofapaka were fined Sh 200,000 for going against the federation’s directive not to play in Wednesday’s ‘unsanctioned’ DSTV Super Cup. The match officials led by Moses Osano, Dorcas Wanza, Stephen Oduor, Amos Wanjala (fourth official) and match commissar Paul Kaunda were also handed a three-months suspension each for handling the clash.
However, according to Rachier, who’s also the Kenyan Premier League chairman, there is more than meets the eye in fine as his club didn’t organize the match.
“It’s only a judicial body that can impose a fine on a club. More so, we didn’t organize the match ourselves, we were only invited by KPL to curtain raise the new season. And if it was them to organize the match why did they not organize it?” queried Rachier.
“All the same, we haven’t received any document from the federation yet. But we are going to examine the basis of the fine, check the offense, give our side of story and decide whether to pay or not.”
