Most Western countries that think Kenya is corrupt base their perception on media reports on corruption cases in Kenya. What most of these countries fail to realise is that the noise and media reports are actually the voices of a nation that is rising up against graft

In many countries, corruption happens but is never reported because of fear, intimidation, unfair judicial systems and despair among taxpayers.

Obviously, Kenya is beginning to overcome the culture of silence.

It is no longer possible to steal from public coffers and get away with it in Kenya.

The nation is more alert, thanks to the growing maturity and commitment of the Kenyan media to speak for the downtrodden

Kenya is on the right track in the fight against graft. We still have a long way to go, and yes, we can do better than we are doing.

But the signs are clear: Kenyans can no longer tolerate corruption, especially among those who are entrusted with the protection, management and distribution of national resources.

I am optimistic that this country will soon leave corruption in the past along with other historical injustices.
