A Court in Nyeri was told of how voters were bribed openly in the presence of security officers.
A witness told the court hearing a petition against Othaya MP Mary Wambui that in one polling station, money was exchanging hands with police officers just five metres away.
Mr Francis Mwangi Thuita, the chief campaigner of the petitioner, Peter King’ara, yesterday said he saw one Mr Ngatia, who was a campaigner for Wambui dishing money to voters queuing at Rukira Youth Polytechnic.
Thuita told Justice Jairus Ngaah he saw Ngatia, whom he knew in person, committing the electoral offence.
“I saw him (Ngatia) who is my neighbour moving around and giving money. I reported the matter to a police officer who was there but no action was taken,” Thuita said.
He also claimed result from several polling stations including Kirai polling station, Njigari Primary School and Kina Tea Buying centre among others were not acurate.
