Poll officials tampered with data, court hears

Embu,Kenya:An IT expert has told an Embu court how electoral officials tampered with computer data to allegedly rig the gubernatorial results.

Ambrose Njeru who was also a personal assistant to the petitioner, Kithinji Kiragu, during the campaigns told the court that the tally of the votes cast were more than the number of registered voters in some polling stations.

Njeru was testifying in a case in which Kiragu has petitioned the court over the announcement of Martin Wambora as the winner.

The IT expert gave the example of Ndamunge Tea Buying centre which had 185 registered voters while the votes cast were 287.

“How can one print a document that had already been signed? Also, the font of one form was different from others,” said Njeru.
