NAIROBI, KENYA: President Uhuru Kenyatta has advised newly-weds to anchor their belief and trust in God to ensure their marriages succeed.

President Kenyatta pointed out that married couples should stick together and strive to form strong families, which he said are pillars of a stable nation.

The President was speaking today at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Nairobi during the wedding of former Miss Nkatha Murungi and  Eddie Omondi.

The bride is the first born daughter of Senator Kiraitu Murungi of Meru county.

The Head of State, who was accompanied by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, congratulated the newly-weds and wished them God’s blessings in their new life.

Speaking during the occasion, immediate former President Mwai Kibaki asked married couples not shy away from seeking counsel from their parents and other elders when in difficulties.

President Kibaki added that no marriage difficulty is insurmountable where wise counsel prevails.

The wedding was conducted by Bishop Salesio Mugambi who was assisted by Father Fiorenzo Canzian.

The wedding ceremony was attended by former Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka, former Finance Minister David Mwiraria, several members of the National Assembly and Senate, and senior Government officials led by Secretary to the Cabinet Mr. Francis Kimemia and Interior Principal Secretary nominee Mr. Mutea Iringo among other invited guests.
