Nyeri, Kenya: A petitioner told a court sitting in Nyeri of how a presiding officer failed to announce results at Othaya tallying centre only for the same to be announced a few hours later at Bomas of Kenya, in Nairobi.
While being cross-examined by his lawyer, Peter King’ara claimed results for Kagumo polling stations were not announced at Othaya CDF hall, the main tallying centre, but were declared hours later at Bomas.
Mr King’ara questioned why the presiding officer remained quiet until the results were read at Bomas and refused to acknowledge or disclose some results were yet to come in.
King’ara, challenging the election of Othaya MP Mary Wambui, also claimed the ballot paper confused his voters because he shared a name with another aspirant for the same seat.
