Embu, Kenya: A sombre mood engulfed Kiandong’o village in Embu North District after a boda boda rider was allegedly stabbed by his wife to death.

Kennedy Chomba, 32, was stabbed in the chest on Monday night at around 11pm.

Embu OCPD Gasper Makau said the man had left for home early that evening but friends called him to a nearby pub for a drink.

Makau said he returned home at around 11pm carrying a bottle of beer which he tried to give to their eight-month-old baby.

“The wife intervened and tried to stop him and that is when an argument arose. The wife took a kitchen knife and stabbed him on the left side of the chest,” said Makau.

He said the deceased then staggered out of the house and walked about five metres before he collapsed.

Makau said the wife on realising what she had done screamed and caught the attention of neighbours who attempted to beat and kill her for what she had done.

However, one of the neighbours called area chief, Mark Keringa, who came with police officers and rescued the woman.

The deceased’s body was taken to the Embu Provincial General Hospital.

Elsewhere, a gang of five men murdered a cook at Tenri Mission Hospital in Ena.

Makau said the deceased, John Nyaga, who hails from Kianjokoma area met his death after he heard screams at night and on going to check, a gang hit him on the head using a blunt object.

Two suspects have since been arrested.
