NAIVASHA, KENYA: Residents of Kamere estate in Naivasha were treated to a rare incident when a house belonging to a suspected witchdoctor went up in flames moments after his arrest.

The residents had to scamper for safety as the Ugandan suspected was escorted to a police car only for fire to engulf his locked house.

According to a witness Jack Wafula, a group of Ugandan witchdoctors had been living in the house for several years.

“Every year we have a new witchdoctor who claims to treat various diseases and problems,” he said.

Wafula said police arrived and arrested the middle aged man attracting a large crowd to the scene.

“Just as the suspect was boarding the vehicle, fire engulfed the wooden house and nothing was salvaged,” he said.

Confirming the arrest, Naivasha deputy OCPD Paul Korir said that the suspect would be arraigned in court charged with been in the country illegally.

He said that they are investigating the cause of the fire adding that the incident had left many bewildered.

“The suspect will be taken to court to be charged with been in the country illegally,” he said.
