The Government attaches great importance to Kenyans living and working abroad, Ms Rachael Ruto, wife of Deputy President William Ruto has said.
Rachael told Kenyans living in Malaysia and United Arab Emirates (UAE) that the country appreciated their contribution to economy through remittances.
She urged them to actively engage in technology and skills transfer that will aid Kenya’s rapid industrialisation and job creation.
She said Kenya offers attractive opportunities for doing business and is well-placed to provide a hospitable home to foreign investors.
“The creation of new Ministry of Mining is a clear indication that the Government is committed to exploiting the sector for economic development,” she said
Rachael made the remarks when she separately addressed Kenyans living in Malaysia and UAE at the weekend. She noted the Constitution, discovery of oil and minerals as well as progress in education and road infrastructure have led to improvement in economic and social opportunities.
She urged those who had finished their studies to come back home and use their newly-acquired expertise to develop the country.
