NAIROBI, KENYA: The eldest son of a former East Africa Court of Appeal Judge, the late Moijo Keiwua died in a road accident in Narok on Saturday.
Moshe Keiwua died on Saturday night at Ntulele area along the Narok-Mai Mahiu road when a taxi he had hired to take him to Nairobi rammed into a moving lorry.
Four other occupants including the former judge Nkorinkori Farm manager Felix Njoroge sustained serious injuries and were admitted at Narok North District Hospital. The body of the victim was moved to the facility mortuary.
Donkol Keiwua, the deceased uncle said he suspects that the vehicle which was later towed to Ntulele Police Station was travelling at high speed moments before the accident, claiming that its driver might have been asleep.
“There are reports that before the accident, the vehicle was travelling at a high speed while the driver was asleep. We don’t want during this time of mourning to apportion blame. We leave it to the police to investigate its cause,” he said on Saturday.
The boy father died one and a half years ago after a long battle with what the family said was colon cancer. He was a big livestock keeper in Narok South.
Meanwhile, angry Narok town residents’ on Saturday morning lynched a man who was said to have been company of another that had broken into a house in the sprawling Majengo estate.
The area police boss Peterson Maelo said the duo had broken into a house before dawn adding, that when the owner who was still in town arrived, she raised alarm that prompted the public to pursue them.
“The victim was killed after he was caught by the public. His accomplice managed to escape,” he said and added that the victim head was smashed by heavy stones.
Police who arrived at the scene moments after the incident, prevented the public from burning the victim’s body, he added. The victim is said to have been a sand dealer in the town.
