NAKURU; KENYA: Nakuru County leaders are exploring various ways of making the county a first-stop tourist destination in the country.
County Governor Kinuthia Mbugua said he is determined to create thousands of jobs for the youth through the tourism industry besides other sectors.
To realise this dream, the Governor said he would devise ways of promoting local tourism and convince residents to visit tourist resorts in the county beginning with Lake Nakuru National Park.
“Other tourist resorts worth visiting are Hells Gate National Park, Menengai Crater and the Hyrax Pre-historic site,” he said.
He said the introduction of Geothermal Development project at Menengai Crater in Nakuru town besides Olkaria Geothermal Project in Naivasha would also boost the power capacity of the county.
The Governor has already set in motion revival of the pyrethrum sector, which he said would also boost employment.
He made the remarks yesterday when he opened the Ministry of Information pictorial exhibition.
