Naivasha, Kenya: Property worth thousands of shillings was destroyed after fire gutted down a dormitory at a primary schools in Naivasha.
Learning at Phoenix Lakeview School was disrupted in the early Monday morning incident.
Parents arrived at the institution to establish the fate of the children.
Fire-fighters from Naivasha Municipal council and Finlay flower farm helped put out the fire.
According to the school director Samuel Mwangi, the fire could have been caused by an electric fault.
He said that majority of the students were in class when the fire broke out adding that no one was injured.
“The boarders were already in class and day scholars were arriving when the fire broke out in one the dormitories,” he said.
Mwangi said that the fire spread fast making it hard to contain due to the mattresses in the dormitories.
“We shall meet as the board and parents to determine what course of action to take but learning is going on,” he said.
A witness Samuel Mukundi said that nothing was salvaged from the dormitory due to the intensity of the fire.
Speaking on phone, Naivasha deputy OCPD Paul Korir said that investigations into the incident had started adding that no one had been injured.
The incident came barely two days after fire burnt down a dormitory in Gilgil Girls secondary school.
