Tusker lost their second match in a row, dampening their hopes of defending the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) title.
The brewers went down 2-1 to a hard-fighting Chemelil Sugar at Nyayo Stadium one week after being brought down by a similar margin by Thika United.
Joel Obwoge scored the opening goal for Chemelil in the 25th minute, but they had to wait until the 70th minute to add the second through Stephen Ocholla.
Jesse Were pulled one back for the brewers in the 90th minute, but it was too late to ensure his side pulled at least a draw in the match.
In an earlier fixture at the same venue, Sofapaka picked three crucial points after stopping Muhoroni Youth 2-1.
The former KPL will, however, count themselves lucky after picking all three points considering the number of chances they wasted and threw away.
Sofapaka scored all their goals in the first half. Felly Mulumba scored the first in the 30th minute and Coco Manupi five minutes later.
Muhoroni pulled one back in the 42nd minute through former Tusker forward Joseph Emeka as the scores stood 2-1 at the breather.
Muhoroni showed a lot of promise in the second half and had forced a corner in the 63rd minute which their opponents countered with their own just two minutes later.
Sofapaka pulled out Felly Mulumba for Patrick Kagogo in a bid to add more punch upfront and his first touch of the ball ended in the hands of Muhoroni goalkeeper Jairus Adira.
In the 75th minute Duncun Ochieng was forced to come out of the Sofapaka goal to stop along throw in from Harry Gentle even as the visitors piled on pressure. Then two minutes later, Godfrey Simiyu again forced Ochieng to stretch and stop a goal bound shot.
On the stroke of time, Sofapaka threw away a penalty when John Barasa shot into the hands of Adira in the Muhoroni goal.
