Naivasha, Kenya: There was drama in Naivasha after faithful clashed over leadership of a church.
The faithful engaged in verbal exchange before a fight erupted at the Victorious Gospel International Church of Kenya.
Armed police had to intervene to calm the situation that shocked residents of Karate area.
Two factions in the church are embroiled in a tussle over leadership.
Trouble started after one faction of the church obtained a court order barring the other from interfering with the running of the church.
The order issued by High Court Judge William Ouzo ordered the party to return some of the church property that it had earlier seized.
Some of the property includes a TV set, key board, suburbia’s, plastic seats, a generator among other items.
The order angered the warring faction who denounced it claiming that they had also an order that countered it.
Confirming the incident, Naivasha deputy OCPD Paul Koror said the tussle over leadership of the church led to the fight.
He said that the issue was pending in court and directed the two parties to observe the law or they would be arrested.
“Police arrived in time to stop the fight between members of the church in Karate area and we are calling for patience as the matter is addressed by the courts,” he said.
