Retired President Daniel arap Moi has praised the late Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo’s legal record and described him as a brilliant legal mind the country will greatly miss.

While eulogising Mutula, Moi said he learnt of his death with deep sorrow and profound sense of personal loss having been his lawyer for 30 years. “Mutula was for over 30 years been one of my lawyers I dearly cherished,” Moi recounted in a message read on his behalf by Baringo County Senator Gideon Moi during his burial.

Moi said over the years, his friendship with Mutula blossomed to include their families. The former Head of State celebrated the lawyer’s remarkable work, striking personality and affability.

“His professional life fascinated and inspired many upcoming young lawyers intent on cutting a niche for themselves in the competitive field,” he said.

“I ask the bereaved family to let God be their pillar as the Almighty is the only true source of solace and comfort.”

Mutula died at his expansive ranch in Maanzoni on April 27 with the cause of his sudden death yet to be made public.
