The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education wants the Kenya National Examinations Council to recall a circular that requires Standard Seven and Form Three students to register for the 2014 national examinations next month.
Union officials led by National Secretary for Secondary education Edward Obwocha and Kisii County Branch Executive Secretary Ben Nyaundi said the new regulation was hurriedly put in place without wide consultations.
In a circular seen by The Standard dated April and signed by Council Secretary Mwai Nyaga and addressed to all school heads, county directors and district education officers, the exams council says schools are expected to register their candidates between June 1 and July 31.
