Fear and anxiety has gripped residents of Nyandarua County after thugs raided a village and injured seven people.

Two of the victims have been admitted in critical but stable condition at JM Kariuki Memorial hospital in Olkalau while others are recuperating at home.

Following the incident, leaders in the County have expressed concern over the attack saying businesses have been paralyzed in some centers as traders closed shops for fear of attack.

Olkalau MP David Kiaraho and County Governor Daniel Mwangi noted that the rising insecurity in the area was worrying.

Kiaraho who visited those injured in hospital said that in the last one month, two people have been killed in the constituency and many others injured by thugs.

He the attackers moved from one homestead to another hacking their victims mercilessly.

The legislator called on police to deal with the rising insecurity.

On his part, the governor called on area residents to work with the police to help arrest those behind the attacks.

Narrating their ordeal, the victims said the gang broke into their houses and attacked them using crude weapons before escaping with their personal effects.

According to Gerald Kanyango the thugs moved from one home to another and even knew some of the victims by name.

“I had just left my M-Pesa business when I met the gang near my home which attacked me with machete,” he said.

In the last couple of weeks, parts of the country have come under attacks by terror gangs which have killed and injured many.

The most affected was Busia and Bungoma where the gang has left at least ten people dead and scores injured.
