A man has been arrested in Vihiga County for butchering his girlfriend.
The two were involved in a domestic brawl on Tuesday night.
The man, the alleged perpetrator of the brutal assault is said to have taken off after the incident but was finally apprehended by police on Wednesday.
He is said to have attacked his female companion, Jackline Munyasa with a machete inflicting deadly wounds on her abdomen, eyes and limbs.
According to a neighbour who did not want to be named, the two had a bitter argument the night before the murder causing a noisy disturbance.
However, he says the noise stopped at some point in the night after which all went silent until morning. It is at this point that the man is suspected to have ended the life of his 42-year-old girlfriend.
“In the morning, the woman’s daughter came calling on her as usual only to be greeted by the macabre scene,” said the distraught neighbour.
Confirming the incident, Vihiga County OCPD Mr Lawrence Garama said the 65-year-old man was arrested after comprehensive police investigations.
