Nairobi,Kenya: Bandari Football Club has sacked its head coach Rashid Shedu and replaced him with the former Harambee Stars coach Twahir Muhiddin who has been holding brief for him since the start of the season.
Shedu, who guided Bandari to the 2013 Tusker Premier League from FKF Division One has been recuperating from an injury he sustained last year and was not able to handle the dockers since the start of the 2013 Premier League.
A fuming Shedu on sunday said it was inhuman to sack him after sacrificing his energy and time in molding a winning team last year, which earned the team promotion to top flight football.
Shedu declined to accept an offer from Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) who are the team’s main sponsors to form an Under-i9 team for the club and handle it.
“A meeting was held between myself and board members at Mbaraki Sports Club last Thursday and the resolution was that I had been sidelined as the head coach and proposed that I should form and Coach U-19 with salary cut by 50 per cent of my current pay,” said Shedu.
Shedu added, “No reason was given to me as to why I have been sidelined. The decision is full of malice and hypocrisy. Just to remind them that it’s me who did the recruitment, put in place the technical bench and now the results are seen because of my foresight. I therefore decline the offer of coaching the said Under-19 Bandari youth team.”
He said he started coaching the team when he was physically fit and got injured while training at Baptist ground.
“The team was doing very well and I had to sacrifice and train the team on crutches and pain killers.”
Shedu noted he was operated in November last year and allegedly told to pay for his own operation, which he did. The total cost of the operation to date is sh130,000.
“The AAR through our Insurance manager refunded sh62,000 only and I was told to pay the rest,” added Shedu
“My contract expired last May and until to date I have not received any kind of communication on the above issue from the Board,” added the coach.
However, Shedu said he was happy to have handled the team and wished them well in the remaining fixtures.
