BUSIA: Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party women leaders in Busia County have rejected the allocation of nominees to Busia County Assembly special seats.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission published the list of those selected in The Standard on Saturday.
Led by ODM Busia County women secretary Gladys Ouma, the leaders said in Busia town yesterday that the list was not a fair representation of the county while some of those listed were not ODM members.
“Justice was not done to women of Busia County. The list was constituted without consultation with grassroots women leaders. We are shocked to learn that some of the people who campaigned against the party have been rewarded with nomination slots,” claimed Ms Ouma.
She added: “We want to know the criteria used that led to Funyula constituency being awarded three slots while denying Nambale constituency even a single slot.”
