NAIROBI, KENYA: The Jubilee Government has indicated that among its top priorities is the improvement of medical services to all persons across the nation by providing healthcare that is affordable and accessible to all.
However, this noble cause may remain a challenge as the medical response team to save lives remains largely under-equipped.
But it is not all gloom; motorcycles’ entry into the Kenyan market may just be the saviour to majority of Kenyans who reside in the rural areas, away from major towns that are served by modern ambulances that ensure people access medical facilities easily.
In rural Kenya most places remain inaccessible and motorcycle ambulances may just be the solution to saving lives in need of urgent medical attention.
Across the border in Uganda’s Busiu region, three-wheeled motorcycles have been adopted to ferry people from the interior parts of the country to the nearest health facilities. This has gone a long way in saving lives.
Our new Government, too, needs to borrow a leaf from our neighbours and adopt the same if it really wants to achieve this fete. Over to President Uhuru and his soon to be announced Cabinet.
