Sections of the Murang’a-Kenol highway in Central Province were flooded after two seasonal rivers broke their banks. Saba Saba and Mutoho rivers broke their banks causing traffic snarl-ups as heavy rains continued.

Many passengers in public service vehicles took precautions and patiently waited for water levels to decrease.

Food crops were destroyed by the raging floods leaving farmers counting loses.

Many of the rural access roads in Murang’a were left impassable after rains continued to pound the region. Murang’a Governor Mwangi wa Iria asked the Government to allocate money to rehabilitate the damaged infrastructure.

Speaking to The Standard, Wa Iria and his deputy Augustine Gakure Monyo said most of the roads and bridges in the region were destroyed.

Wa Iria has ordered the local County Commissioner Kula Hache to list down infrastructure damaged by the rains.
