A man well known for his absence from Emuhaya Constituency home in Vihiga County has decided to abandon his wife and home to a watchman who had stepped into his shoes while he was busy fending for his family in Nairobi.

The Nairobi-based man was reportedly too busy for his village wife and rarely visited, making her susceptible to advances of the smooth talking watchman.

IMPROMPTU VISIT

But during the Easter holidays, he made a late evening impromptu visit and found the watchman playing husband with his wife. Annoyingly, the watchman nearly caused a ruckus when a thundering voice demanded that the door be opened. But on realising that it was the owner of the house, he calmed down and even unsuccessfully attempted to take cover.

When the door was eventually opened, the Nairobi man found a scared watchman whom he engaged in fierce combat before the crook slipped out and ran.

SUMMONED

First thing the following morning, he reported his wife to the elders in the area. But when she was summoned, she accused her husband of “just sending money and rarely coming home”. Whenever he did, she added, he never touched her.

She twisted the knife further when she requested the old men to ask her husband if the money that he sent was enough to satisfy her matrimonial needs.

“My husband is a good man because he sends money every other month...but I want you to enquire from him if money can hug and make love to a woman,” she posed.

The tough question stupefied the elders, who asked for time to consult among themselves before giving their verdict.

ABSENTEE HUSBAND

Crazy Monday learnt that the old men later reproached the absentee husband, telling him to his face that he was not man enough and should not have brought the matter before them, considering he hardly fulfills his end of the bargain.

“Whom do you expect to take care of your wife when you are lost in Nairobi and there are many other men around ready to handle your business on your behalf?” one old man asked.

After the old men ruled in her favour, the man sulked and left his home without finishing the Easter weekend. His wife claimed that he had vowed never to return while taunting and mocking her to welcome the watchman to take over.

The woman seems not be moved and holds the view that she has a right to feel like all other women in their homes. It is, however, not known whether or not the watchman took over.
