Residents of Kakamega town woke up to a shock when they found the body of a man at Muliro Gardens, the town’s public park. The body of the man identified by police as Joseph Onkoba, was found early morning on Saturday.
Kakamega Central OCPD Charles Kinywa said the body did not have any physical signs of injuries. “We retrieved the body from the park and took it to the mortuary where a post-mortem examination is being done,” said Mr Kinyua.The deceased was a teacher at Lirembe Girls High School.
Police said the wife identified the body at the mortuary hours after the man went missing.And in Bungoma County, two people were arrested in connection with possession of fake currency worth Sh28,000 that they used to defraud an M-Pesa agent.The two suspects identified as Jackson Mwangi and Julia Njeri, were arrested in Nairobi on Friday following a hunt that had reportedly lasted three months. The fake currency was allegedly deposited at an M-Pesa outlet in Webuye town in denominations of Sh1,000 notes.
“We tracked down the suspects with the help of Safaricom mobile service provider. The leads took us to the city where we arrested them,” said Willy Simba, the OCPD for Bungoma East District.
Police started looking for the suspects after the M-Pesa agent reported the matter at Webuye Police Station upon discovering that the money was fake. However, the two are said to have employed evasive manoeuvres to avoid police dragnets.
