Machakos, Kenya: Youth Affairs Assistant Minister Wavinya Ndeti claims the number of voters in Machakos County was more than those registered.

She now wants the election of Machakos County Governor Alfred Mutua nullified.

The former Kathiani MP wants the election of Dr Mutua nullified on grounds that votes cast in eight constituencies in the county for gubernatorial seat were allegedly more than the number of registered voters.

Ndeti, through her lawyer Harrison Kinyanjui, is seeking orders to compel Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to produce all the spoilt ballot papers for the Machakos County Governor elections for Masinga, Yatta, Kangundo, Matungulu, Kathiani, Mavoko, Machakos Town, and Mwala constituencies.

She further wants original copy of Form 36, from the said constituencies which contains declaration of election results for governor, copies of the results from the eight polling stations, copy of the register, and statement showing number of rejected and valid ballot papers.

The petitioner is also seeking scrutiny and recount of votes cast in the eight constituencies.
