President of the Federal Republic of Germany Joachim Gauck has congratulated president-elect Uhuru Kenyatta and commended Kenyans for observing peace before and after the March 4 elections.
President Gauck said Kenyans should be proud of the implementation of its 2010 Constitution and the establishment of institutions that enabled a peaceful election.
“I am convinced that the Republic of Kenya will continue on its democratic path and drive forward its successful development. I wish all involved strength and success in further implementing this ambitious reform programme, especially in the field of devolution – an aspect which offers ample opportunity for sharing information between both our countries,” he said.
He said Germany will continue to support Kenya on its way to a peaceful and prosperous future.
He commended Kenya on its contribution to peace and stability in the region and singled out its mission in Somalia.
“I wish both you and the Kenyan people peace and prosperity along with a sure hand in performing the responsibilities of your office,” he said.
