Kitui; Kenya: Onesmus Frank Makau has landed a scholarship a day after The Standard highlighted how he almost lost a place in a national school in the just-concluded Form One selection.

The Premier Academy Charitable Trust (Pact) Wednesday wrote a cheque of Sh53, 850 to the Nairobi School, being payment of first term fees for Makau.

In its correspondence with the secondary school, the trust also committed to pay the full fees of Sh340,000. This will cover the four years.

Mr George Kiyimba and Mr Saryu Chandarana who are the officials of the trust said the funds will be drawn from the Board of Trustees scheme.

They said Makau deserved a place at the school owing to his hard work in primary school in the semi-arid region. The boy was at Kakuuni Primary School in Kitui County. He scored 370 marks to emerge top in his class. He hopes to be a doctor.
