Nakuru, KENYA: Shock and grief gripped residents of Mai Mahiu after a man committed suicide in unclear circumstances.

The lifeless body of the middle aged man was found hanging from a tree along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

There was no suicide note left behind and emotions ran high as relatives and friends tried to come to terms with the death of the quarry worker.

According to a witness Patrick Maina, the man was last seen in the trading center buying some food stuff on the eve of the incident.

“He had arrived from a quarry where he works and was discovered in the morning and nobody knows the cause of death,” he said.

Naivasha OCPD Charles Kortok said they are  investigating the incident though the motive behind the suicide was not known.

“We are yet to identify the motive behind the suicide and the body has been taken to the Naivasha district hospital mortuary,” he said.

Meanwhile calm has returned to the volatile area of Kosovo in Ndabibi Naivasha after the bloody clashes between members of the Maasai and Kikuyu communities.

Those who had fled the area started streaming back as armed police heightened their patrols in the area.

Naivasha DC Mohammed Abass said that peace had prevailed after a baraza between the warring tribes was held.

“Members of the two communities have resolved their problem and business is back to normal,” he said on phone.

During the weekend clashes, two people were seriously injured and several houses torched.

The two communities were fighting over the control of the vast ADC farm which has been lying idle for years.
