Police shot dead three members of the Mombasa Republican Council (MRC) at Mbungoni area in Bombolulu after a confrontation following an attempt to raid Freretown Police Post.
Four others were arrested after members of the secessionist group numbering about 60 attempted to raid the police station early Monday morning.
Police say they arrested the four at the police post and they agreed to take them to the home of one of their leaders.
On the way to the home of the leader, another group of MRC members armed with pangas confronted the police forcing them to shoot thus killing the three.
