Police have issued a terror alert following credible intelligence that two Egyptians, two Morocans and a French national left Kismayo in Somalia last week for a terrorism mission in the country.
Commissioner of police Mathew Iteere said they are yet to establish if the suspects are already in the country, and urged anybody who might have spotted any suspicious persons to inform the police.
“We are appealing to any person who might have or come across information on their whereabouts to make an immediate report to the nearest police officer or other person in authority for further action. Any information offered will be treated in strict confidence,” said Mr Iteere in a statement.
One of the suspects is a bomb expert identified as Mahmoud Abdel Aziz Hassan, an Egyptian.
The other suspects are Salim Si Mohamed, a Moroccan born in 1984, Nadane Si Mohamed born in 1980, Mohamed Ali Mahmoud Khalifa, an Egyptian born in 1986, and Frenchman Rachid Benomar born in 1973.
