Milele Beach Hotel’s grand expansion project has begun. It involves putting up an adjacent apartment hotel annex.
The apartment hotel concept, a relatively new idea, is catching up in the local hospitality industry with several investors taking the cue. It will be the first non-smoking and non-alcoholic beach resort in Kenya.
Apartment hotels include services apartments complexes that use a hotel style booking system devoid of rigid format of a normal hotel room. In an interview yesterday, Milele Beach Hotel General Manager, Anthony Njaramba, said that the 60-apartment hotel project worth Sh1.2 billion project’s first phase is due for completion in August, next year. Apartments wing are also being offered for sale with Njaramba saying that several outlets have been acquired.
“We had to adopt fast changing global travellers trends and have come up with apartment hotel, spa, conference and commercial centre within our expansive grounds,’’ Njaramba said.
Architectural works for the apartment plaza is by Arnold Deche of AD Designs.
National Bank of Kenya is financing the project owned by the Presbyterian Church of East Africa. “The first phase that is under construction is composed of eight pent houses, two, three and one bedroom apartments and a fully fledged spa and restaurant,” he said.
Njaramba said the second phase to commence next year will involve the construction of an ultra modern 5,000 seater conference facility and a commercial centre.
