ODM legislators have once again urged Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi to return to the party.

Planning Minister Wycliffe Oparanya, MPs Ababu Namwamba and Manson Nyamweya, said Mudavadi’s departure was misguided.

They affirmed the doors were still open for him to reconsider his political ambitions and re-join the party.

“If Mudavadi were genuine he would admit he is feeling a rare political heat occasioned by his departure from ODM, but he can still come back home,” stated Namwamba.

Locked out

Mr Namwamba noted that the Sabatia MP risked being locked out of the next Government should he fail to heed to the humble call.

“This is free advice to Mudavadi, we tried all we could to advise him but he failed to listen to us, his chance to lead this country was only going to be realised within ODM,” noted Namwamba while campaigning for Bukura ward ODM candidate pharmacist Reuben Nyangweso.

Campaigns intensified on the last day for the Bukura ward by-election as both ODM and rival party UDF employed different tact to woo supporters.

While ODM party leaders addressed public rallies, UDF opted for door-to-door campaigns to drum up support for their candidates.

Confidence

Addressing the rally, Oparanya exuded confidence that ODM would capture the seat, arguing the party had the interests of all Kenyans at heart and would form the next Government.

Housing Minister Soita Shitanda and Ikolomani MP Boni Khalwale led the UDF machineries as they criss-crossed parts of the ward seeking support for the party’s candidate, Walter Andati. Dr Khalwale urged voters to rally behind the party’s candidate, saying this would boost the chances of the party in the next elections. “We want to make a major political statement,” said Khalwale. The Bukura seat fell vacant following the death of Kakamega county council chairman Evans Ashibikha in February.
