A victim of kidnapping and rape has petitioned Police Commissioner Mathew Iteere to have her attackers arrested and prosecuted.

The Form Three student was allegedly kidnapped and raped before being dumped by the roadside three days later.

The student, 18, who says she knows some of her attackers, claims that justice was being delayed even after she reported the matter to Kariene Police Station in Imenti Central District.

Speaking at her mother’s home at Kariene market moments after she was discharged from Nairobi Women’s Hospital, the victim said the kidnappers waylaid her on the way to Meru Level Five Hospital as she went to seek treatment on August 29.

Previous assault

She said three women, who are her neighbours, had assaulted her the previous day.

“As I was almost getting to the hospital, I saw a saloon car behind me, and the occupants asked me to get in as they were also heading to the hospital. But when I entered the car I found three men and two women, who ordered me to shut up,” she said.

The victim narrated how the kidnappers, including the three women whom she said were her previous attackers, threatened to kill her if she raised an alarm.

“After uncovering their faces I recognised the women but the men were strangers. I sensed danger after they snatched my phone and warned me against calling anybody,” she said.

She added: “They drove towards the Meru-Nairobi highway, but from there I found myself in a small room where I could hear people scream.”

She said her face was covered and she was ordered to lie down before she was raped several times at intervals for three days, without being given water or food.

The student narrates that she fell unconscious and was dumped in Nairobi near Embakasi, where police officers from Embakasi Police Station found her.

She was taken to Nairobi Women’s Hospital for treatment.

Area OCPD Sylvester Githungo said the matter is under investigation. He said the three women have also recorded statements with the CID.

“We will arrest the culprits as soon as investigation is complete,” said the OCPD.

Just last month, an 80-year-old  granny appealed to the Police Commissioner to intervene and have a man who allegedly raped her in Buuri District, Meru County, arrested.

She said the suspect was yet to be arrested despite her making a report to the police.
