Narc-Kenya women officials launched a lobby group in Kisumu in preparation to market party presidential aspirant Martha Karua.

But Karua failed to show up and instead addressed her supporters through the telephone. In an amplified tele-politicking, Karua rode on technology boon to reach out to her Kisumu supporters.

“I know many of you expected me to be physically present. But I can assure you I am present by voice through technology,” she said.

Karua apologised to women that pressing commitments had made it cumbersome for her to fly to Kisumu but promised to visit the lakeside town before end month.

“I have decided to work out an elaborate plan that will see me not only visit Kisumu but also its suburbs soon,” she said via branch secretary David Nyakiti’s phone.

She urged the lobby group dubbed Wamama na Karua to carry on with recruitment of women and promised to set up a secretariat in Kisumu.

Those who attended the function were, however, disappointed that she failed to come despite all the energies invested in mobilisation. Officials mobilised supporters, told Karua to coordinate her campaigns well in future.
