Police in Gucha have arrested a former councillor and a parent for attempting to procure an abortion for a Form One student.
The 15-year-old girl was rushed to Nyamache Level Four Hospital at the weekend after she started bleeding profusely.
The hospital’s medical superintendent Dr Charles Ayora said medical staff removed a stick that had been inserted into the private parts of the patient before she delivered a baby girl.
“The girl who was eight months pregnant developed complications after an attempt to procure an abortion,” said the officer.
