Weddings can be stressful, especially come the big day when the unexpected arise. So, you have been planning this beautiful garden wedding and come the wedding, the sun is unbelievably hot or even worse. What do you do?
• Track the weather: Always have a rough idea of the kind of weather to expect on your wedding day and work around it. This is if you can’t change the date to a later day. This could save you heart ache and money.
• Dress for the occasion: Keep your gown light and free with comfortable shoes, while he can wear some light cotton shirts. If possible, inform your guests to wear light clothes as well. Stress on the word ‘hot’.
• If the heat gets unbearable, consider pushing the ceremony and reception a few hours later into the day when the heat has eased off.
• For an open plan garden ceremony, keep it short. If your budget allows, serve some cocktails immediately after as you take photos or get ready to depart for the photos.
• Request to use indoor facilities if your venue has one.
• If your wedding venue is near a lake, have the set up strategically set up to allow for the breeze to cool of your guests.
• Pump some life into your guests and have some chilled towels ready throughout the day.
• Why not have cold foods and refreshments like lemon chicken salad, raspberry truffles and chilled wine in your course meal? Alternatively, a cool and sweet dessert bar with all the cold stuff you can think of will make it a wedding to remember for the children as well as the adults.
• Come up with a fan-designed look into your wedding programmes or invitation cards, which can serve as a wedding favour, stationery and a fan. Your guests will have every reason not to throw your expensive cards away once it’s all over.
• For the fun-loving duo, have a pool or beach party and if you dare, go the whole way and have a party inside the pool.
