Two men were killed and property of unknown value stolen in a robbery incident at a church in Shanzu.
The robbers attacked the Presbyterian Church of East Africa’s Global Village campus at 4am last Monday.
Shanzu area chief Arabia Maneno termed the incident a well-executed robbery.
“The robbers seem to have timed the departure of the night patrol team at midnight, after which they cut through the fence,” the chief said, adding the two men were bludgeoned to death.
She disclosed that the robbery might have been an inside job, as the robbers switched off the security alarm.
She said a similar incident took place in December last year.
She called upon locals to exercise civil responsibility and report any suspicious characters who may be lurking in their neighborhoods.
“Residents should exercise community policing to help flush out criminals,” Ms Maneno said.
Ms Maneno said efforts were underway to ascertain the culprits behind the break-in adding that police would welcome citizens with any information that would help solve the case.
Mr Kambe Chivasi Nyoka, a brother to one of the deceased men claimed insecurity was rife in the area saying the tragic loss was a heavy blow to the family as the deceased was the bread winner.He said regular police patrols would help prevent such crimes and urged police to beef up security.
