Today at 10pm the World will shift its attention to Kenya’s son and the country’s pride David Lekuta Rudisha when the starting gun for 800metres final is fired at the London Olympics.

A man reputed as the best Olympic track star perhaps rivaled by Jamaica’s Usain Bolt only will be watched by millions of people worldwide on TV as Kenya’s sporting talent is tested among nations.

Feted severally, and baptised King David, Rudisha is expected to sooth the anger of Kenyans who have been disappointed by Team Kenya’s poor showing at London 2012 Olympics. He is expected to deliver the country’s second gold medal after Ezekiel Kemboi’s steeplechase prize.

In 2010, Rudisha broke the 13-year-old world 800m record twice in one week. Then, in 2011, he won his first global title at the World Athletics Championships in Daegu.

On his Facebook page Kenyans and fans worldwide are swamping him with “Go for Gold and Bring back Kenya’s Gold “ messages.
