Police in Bomet are investigating an inciddent in which a  head teacher is accused of sexual harassment.

Bomet OCPD Henrietta Munyama said that the Form One student reported the incident on Tuesday last week. In her statement, the girl accused the head teacher of sexually harassing her in his office.

The student said the teacher had summoned her to his office claiming he wanted to know whether she had cleared fee arrears.

But on reaching his office, the teacher made sexual advances.

The student said the summons was just a plot by the teacher to harass her.

The teacher has also recorded a statement. Munyama added that on Monday her office sent officers to the school to interrogate witnesses and record statements.

“We are still doing our investigations and the outcome will determine the next course of action,” Munyama said.

County Director of Education John Olontua said he had dispatched officials to record statements from students and teachers.

Yesterday, the student’s father alleged foul play, saying authorities were slow.

“Some individuals are now accusing me of stage-managing the incident to settle scores with the head teacher,” he said.

He said police have taken long to unravel the matter and ensure justice is delivered.
