Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka took his campaign to Makueni County where he vowed to fight corruption and impunity if elected president.
Kalonzo said he would employ a two-pronged approach to ensure full implementation of the Constitution and pursue those who have stolen from the public.
The VP called on international organisations that have seconded their people to the Office of Prime Minister to offer consultancy services to withdraw them if they wanted to work with the country.
“All the consultants in the Prime Minister’s office must be withdrawn because they have engaged in corrupt dealings,” he claimed.
He cited the looting of public coffers, including the controversial Kazi Kwa Vijana funds. But he did not name the officers he had in mind while making the allegation. “We want to put looters of public properties on notice. Time is now up for such people,” he declared.
The VP urged Kenyans to scrutinise those eyeing the presidency to ensure they elect leaders with integrity.
He vowed to take his opponents head on, saying he had been studying them and he now understands their strengths and weaknesses.
“They don’t know I have been studying the leaders, including the low and mighty and that’s where I have drawn my strength they are today worried about,” said Kalonzo.
Food security
He was speaking at Unoa Primary School grounds in Wote town yesterday where he addressed his supporters.
MPs Johnson Muthama, Gideon Ndambuki, Mohammed Affey, Shakila Abdala, Victor Munyaka, Itwiku Mbai, Charles Kilonzo, Philip Kaloki, Daniel Muoki, Peter Kiilu and Charles Nyamai were present.
Others were former MPs Peter Maundu, Mutua Katuku, Jonesmus Kikuyu and East African Legislative Assembly MP Peter Mathuki, among others.
“I came to ask you to support me in my State House bid in the coming General Election,” Kalonzo told supporters. He exuded confidence that he will win the presidency, which he described as a struggle between good and evil.
“The struggle will be won because there is no way evil can triumph over good,” he added.
Kalonzo assured that his government would strive to ensure food security by initiating irrigation farming in semi arid regions.
The VP asked Kenyans to accept the court ruling on the delimitation of boundaries, saying they will be reviewed with time.
Kalonzo assured those seeking the party’s ticket that the nominations will be free and fair.
