Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Mr Keriako Tobiko has directed Police Commissioner Mathew Iteere to probe the alleged extra-judicial killing of four people in Trans-Nzoia County.
This is after Release Political Prisoners Trust (RPP), complained to the DPP that some police officers were involved in extra judicial executions.
Topiko’s letter to Iteere dated July 3, read in part: “See the attached letter of compliant by the Release Political Prisoners Trust on the alleged extra judicial executions by police, Kenya police reservists and Administration Police in Trans-Nzoia County”.
“The allegations raised therein are self explanatory and very serious. Its imperative that all the allegations are thoroughly investigated and the concerns raised be addressed as soon as possible to enable me adequately give directions,” the letter states.
RPP wrote to Tobiko demanding action against a police reservist allegedly involved in the killings of a Standard Seven pupil and injuring of his friend at Olekatongo ADC Farm in Kitalale on March 10.
Other victims were Ms Veronica Namalwa, 67, and her two sons Stephen and John Wanjala.

The family members were killed by Administration Police officers who had been summoned by a neighbour to evict them from a disputed land.
The letter signed by RPP Executive coordinator Mr Odhiambo Oyoko read: “It is clear from RPPs investigation that Trans Nzoia KPR/APs operate with impunity and in total disregard of sections 24, 40, 47, 49(1-5), 50(1)(2) and(3) and 61(1) of the National Police Service Act”.
The organization also accuses a senior police officer of abusing Section 26A (1) of the Firearms Act CAP 114 and Articles 19, 21, 26 27, 28, 29, 48 and 244 of the Constitution.
