Kenyan Premier League (KPL) resumes today after three weeks break with 12 teams in action.

A couple of fixtures stand out. Champions Tusker play Oserian tomorrow at the refurbished Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani in a tie that will have all the other top managers following with bated breath.

The brewers, who are also the defending champions, are second in the standings and a win will boost their title defence campaign.

Wendo and Brian Mandela celebrate a goal.

The first leg turned out fairly for Tusker and they must maintain or aspire to do better as they seek to become the first team to retain the KPL title.

The departure of midfielder Paul Were to AFC Leopards was a big blow to the brewers and it remains to be seen how they will cope without him. Tusker has since signed Joshua Oyoo as Were’s replacement.

Without Were, strikers,  Joseph Emeka, Fredrick Onyango and Joseph Mbugi  must find their scoring instinct early and it must start tomorrow.

From now on every match counts for Oserian who are at the bottom of the log after struggling during the first leg and it is unfortunate that they have to start with Tusker.

Victory over Tusker will give them the motivation to do better in their remaining matches and hopefully survive relegation.

The match between Western Stima and Gor Mahia at Mumias Complex this afternoon is the other interesting fixture.

Last season Gor won at the same venue. Stima  held Gor in their first leg match played at City Stadium meaning both team have plenty to prove today.

A rejuvenated Gor side have secured the services of former Nairobi City Stars top striker Dan Sserunkuma and the faster he gets to score, the easier it will be for him to settle at the highly demanding club.

Thika will be hoping to continue with their good performance when they play against Nairobi City Stars at City Stadium in the only match in Nairobi this afternoon.

Thika have been tremendous this season and they look set to make up for all their failures in the last three years.

The Thika side must mainatin tjeir good form in the second leg and winning against City Stars will be a good way to start off.
