Police in Webuye have launched a hunt for a woman who killed her husband and stayed with his body in the house for a week.
The woman is said to have burnt her husband, who is a security guard with Bedrock Security Company, and kept the mutilated body in the house.
The incident happened at Guest House village, Township sub-location in Webuye District.
Area Chief Misigo Barasa said the man is said to have disappeared on June 6.
“The woman went to his work place and lied to the managers that her husband had gone to Mombasa and he would not be coming back and was given his salary of Sh4,800 for the month of May,” said the administrator.
He added that villagers were concerned with the foul smell coming from her house and asked her but she dodged the matter. “When the stench became too much villagers threatened to storm the house and find out what was wrong,” he added.
Danger
The chief said on sensing danger the woman took off with her two-year-old baby.
Villagers then broke into the house and found the decomposing body of the security guard before they alerted the administrator.
Webuye OCPD David Muturi confirmed the incident and said the body had been removed to Webuye District Hospital mortuary.
“The woman is still at large and police are pursuing her as investigation into the incident goes on,” said Mr Muturi.
Elsewhere, Butere police are hunting for a man who reportedly used an axe to chop his wife’s private parts leaving her unconscious.
The woman is said to have complained over her husband’s involvement in witchcraft during a talk show with a local radio station.
She narrated how her husband had allegedly killed their two children and he kept human skulls and a hand in one of the rooms to which he restricts access.
The revelation angered her husband who went back home and used an axe to slash her breasts and private parts leaving her for dead.
She was rushed to Butere District Hospital before being moved to New Nyanza General Hospital.
