Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has left for a two-week official visit to the US and China where he will also be seeking the support of the Kenyan voters in the Diaspora for his Presidential bid.

The VP is targeting the more than three million voters in the Diaspora, who are expected to participate in the coming General Election.

“The VP will also seek to urge Kenyans in the Diaspora to invest in counties back home to take advantage of the devolved system of government,” the VP’s spokesperson Mr Kaplich Barsito told The Standard yesterday.

Mr Kalonzo is to urge Kenyans in the Diaspora to increase their remittances to Kenya, which at the moment stand at more than Sh1 billion.

The VP is also expected to meet with US government officials, World Bank officials and US senators to discuss among other things, investment in Kenya and the East African region and conflicts in East Africa and the Horn of Africa.

Kalonzo will hold talks with Kenyans living in Texas, Georgia, Minneapolis and Washington.

The VP will also be seeking to sensitise Kenyans on the re-launch of the Kenya Kwanza Initiative initiated by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission, which Kalonzo has lauded as the best tool to achieve national cohesion and integration.

The VP will then head to China where he and Zimbabwean Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai have been invited as official guests at the Beijing International Service Fair.
